Visa server and VPN

Hello every one,

 Don't mad at me if i suddenly showed up and ask question.

I have 1 question to ask:

Did any body ever user Visa Server on a computer that connect to a shared secure network over VPN client? 

What I Im trying to do is setup a laptop( With VPN Client + labview 8.6) remotely has direct control  of of equiptments that conect to another computer on company network.  I am unable to make it works.  Any suggesttion is

appreciated.

Hello,

 

Your VPN will work, but you have to remember that you have to have the VISA run-time engine installed on the computer that you are using to vpn from and have NI-Servers running on the computer you want to control. You also have to make sure that the default IP address used is the one of your local machine, because once it is changed it will adapt to a system IP address. So go to Network Connections >> Advanced >> Advanced Settings  and make sure the very top of the list is the IP address of the computer that you are using not the IP address the computer is on the network. After you do that, the VISA Run-Time and the VISA Server should be looking at the same computer. 

 

I would also suggest looking into Remote Front Panels for your applications which is described more here.  And here is information for locking locking and unlocking these applications.
