Virtual ScopeCorder DL750

I am trying to design a code for virtual scopecorder DL750. I want to mainly concentrate on data acquisition and saving. Can someone point me in right direction? Where should I start from? Are there any  tutorials or materials which can help? 

I have a quick question that the Scopecorder is connected to the NIPXI 1042 through GPIB cable. Do I need to also create a code for GPIB also?

Without a better idea of what kind of data you hope to capture and how often I would suggest a Producer/Consumer architecture to begin with.
