VI of the Day (9/4/2009)

It's getaway day for those of us Stateside, so an easy one for today, sure to make you popular with your cubicle neighbors:  "Beep.vi".  In general I believe that the only sound coming from my computer should be my music or streaming audio from a baseball game.  Nonetheless, a gentle ping now and then can be very effective for calling attention.

On the fun side, you can create some recognizable tunes using just this VI which sound like the ringtones on your first cellphone.  I'll try to post one in a little while an we can play "Name That Tune".

As usual, groundrules for VIOTD can be found here

Not true. It still works, but you can't change the frequency or duration on, say, Windows machines. That VI was originally written way back when LabVIEW only ran on Macs.

Not true either. I just tried under LV2009/windows. You simply need to set "uses system alert" to FALSE. (see also the help: No mention of windows only).

...To be fair, your statement was true many versions ago. 😉

Haven't tried it in 2009. Just tried it in 8.2, and by golly it's been changed. Well, how about that. Neat. I guess.
