Using LabVIEW Real-Time on Desktop PC with Celeron D processor

I would like to use LabVIEW Real-Time on a Desktop PC with Celeron D processor.
My program need a timed loop connected to the 1 MHz clock.
I tried all lvalarms.dll libraries from RT Images but I could find any DLL which is compatible with this processor.
When using 1 kHz clock, its ok.
When using 1 MHz clock, the systems hangs or reboot.

Does anybody have experience on LabVIEW RT with this processor ?

Hello,

National Instruments highly recommends selecting a validated system, as we cannot guarantee the functionality of LabVIEW Real-Time running on PCs that have not been tested. Due to frequent changes in PC hardware and the success of non-certified PCs, we no longer are going to certify a PC. Instead there is a KB with the requirement of a PC to be used as an RT target.

* Requirements for a Desktop PC as a LabVIEW Real-Time Target

Only Intel Pentium 4-based PC have been verified by NI to run on the LabVIEW Real-Time engine. For example, Desktop PCs with Athlon processors will not run the LabVIEW Timed Loop. Dell has changed the configuration of their GX270 Optiplex PC to use only Celeron Processors, which doesn't fly with our documented RT PC Configuration.

I checked on a Pentium IV processor with hyperthreading disabled.
The same problem can be reproduced on a Pentium IV.

I opened a support demand in France whith reference is #264074.

Please find attached a VI.
Could you make a test on a desktop PC with a Pentium IV processor ?

Hello,

I have tested today your VI on a computer equipped with a Mobile Intel Pentium IV, 2.2GHz (system bus: 400MHz , socket: MICRO FC PGA 478 pin , cache 512 KB L2) under LabVIEW RT 7.1. I did not reproduce the behavior you describe (hang, crash, reboot ...). Maybe the issue is specific to your type of computer. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Best regards.

My set up is LabVIEW Real Time version 8.0 + PC Desktop as a Target

I am using the ethermet 82550 card and it works fine. However, I have difficoulties in finding replacements for the card as it is rather an old one.

Has any one a positve experience using another up to date ethernet card ?

Regards

Simbani
