Uncompiling Labview 5.1 stand-alone executable

The company I work for has a PC controlling a very complex process. The pc runs windows nt and will need to be replaced in the near future. Some of the components in process the stand-alone executable is controlling have failed and are no longer available. Newer components are available but their analog inputs run on different voltage ranges. The company who provided us with this system no longer supports it and I was curious if it was possible to un-Build a stand alone application so that it can be edited and rebuilt.

Generally, the answer is no. Typically, when an exe is created, the block diagrams are removed and once gone, they are gone forever. Under rare circumstances, the creator of the exe will not remove the block diagrams or set it up to call an external file with the source code. Make a copy of the exe and rename it .llb. The names of the used VIs will be visible when you do a file open from LabVIEW. Open of the VIs and see if there is a block diagram. Note: LabVIEW 8.5 cannot open 5.1 files so you will need an earlier version to do this.
