Trouble detecting peaks from signal

Hi all, 

Sorry if this is a silly question but I'm new to LabVIEW and having trouble with detecting peaks and the time between peaks.

I was able to obtain the difference between peaks using a generated waveform, but when I tried to change the source to the desired signal the output types changed. 

I've attached the two block diagrams, hopefully my explanation makes sense.

Use the From Dynamic Data Type express VI to convert that blue DDT wire to a waveform wire.
