Touch Screen

I want to use a touch screen instead of boolean controls for movement in a two Dimens. array.

That is if I want to move between the elements of a 2d array using a touch screen and not a left right booleans.

Can I connect touch screen to labview and how and which touch screen will serve the best.

Thank you for your time.:robottongue:

A touch screen is like a mouse, but not quite.  Tapping the screen (= Mouse Down + Mouse Up) is like clicking on the screen.  So if your application has controls that you can click (like large boolean controls, as they'll be easier to hit with the finger), you should have no trouble.  I'd recommend setting up an Event structure and programming your actions on the Pane, Mouse Down and Pane, Mouse Up events.

I am sorry I did not understand what you mean ;I meant by touch screen that is similar to that found on new cellphones(Nokia N 97...)where I can navigate using motion of my finger, how can I implement[work it]on labview with the speedy board with out the use of the up-down-right-left keys because it will be more advanced .Thank you for your time .

Thanks

Hi Wall Ham,

I am not sure you can create games for Nokia with Labview. You might be able to communicate with the phone from Labview (check this link), but to create a game it is a bit more complicated (with Labview).

From what I understood Bob Schor was giving you advices on how to program touch panels with Labview. Here you can find even more info about this.

You can use the mouse down as an event and then track the position of the mouse (x and y axis) while the mouse is down!  If it is on the array then you can programmatically index the array by how much the mouse has moved while in the down position.  Say if the mouse has moved 50 pixels to the left this could equal one column index etc.  Adjust to suit sensitivity.
