while using labview VIs, you can write and read from a TDMS file at the same time

why is this not the case when using the TDMS excell add-in?

the TDMS file must be closed before using the TDMS excell add-in.

Is there a way to use the excell add-in with an open file?

Hi James,

The Excel TDMS add-in is designed for bringing TDMS data into Excel.  But in order to do so it wants full control of the file.  You will not be able to import open TDMS files using the add-in.

What are you trying to do in your application?  If you give me some more information, hopefully we can find a suitable workaround

I have a software that is acquiring data and logging it to a tdms file.  I want to have the option of clicking on the filepath and spawning excell passing it the filename of the tdms file and opening it but still have the acquisition software log to the tdms file.

I can do this by using the tdms VIs and the office toolkit but I would rather use the excell add-in
