I see that LV8.2 you can create a zip file, is this possible with tar file creation?

Don't think so directly....

If you download winrar you can call that executable (with parameters) to create a tar

I would suggest Filzip instead. Unlike Winrar, Filzip is free. 7-zip is also free.

Oh, WOW, I didn't know that they started charging for WinRar...last I knew it was free as well...bummer...
