Hi folks,

I would like to time my vi and update the timer value on the FP. So, can anyone give me the difference beween Elapsed time Vi and FGV timer. When and where these can differ.

Hi

The main advantage of Elapsed time is that it is alredy already written as an express Vi.

If this suits your application then you can use it.

However if you need more advanced features then building your own FGV Timer for the solution.

Its not so fancy, FGV with Start time,Check time and reset case. Need much info

Then what more do you need?

The express VI is already coded and will do exactly what it does, no more, no less.

If execution time is a priority (for example on RT) then you may consider the FGV otherwise if the vi Express does what you want stick with it.

Express Vi can help simplify simple code.

Read the help associated with the Vi express and you will understand what it does.

For most of the CLD example this can be used but I'm not sure what reviewers think of that. For my CLD I made my own FGV because I'm used to it and I don't like the size of the express Vi on the block diagram or the number of connector it is set as icon.
