Simultaneous but Separate tasks in VI Logger

Hello,

We have two tools (A & B) that used to both send a signal to a PCI-6032E data acquisition board. The signal was being logged in VI Logger through a Traditional DAQmx task (we were using the version 1.1.1 of VI Logger). We had two separate VI Logger tasks (one for each tool), and weren't able to run them simultaneously because our understanding is that the card itself wasn't able to acquire both signals at the same time.

We thus acquired the NI 9215 acquisition card with a 9171 usb chassis to be able to run simultaneously our tools while acquiring both signals in two separate VI logger tasks. Unfortunatly, that hasn't solved our problem as it seems like even though the card can acquire both signals simultaneously, VI logger can only log them on the same graph/task.

Is this happening because we haven't set it up right or this is a fundamental limitation of the VI Logger software?

Please note that we have update our VI logger software version to the version 2.0.1 when we installed the new data acquisition board.

Thank you in advance for your help 🙂

Hi fatou,

I am not sure about VI Logger, but the 9171 should have come with SignalExpress, which is a newer version of VI Logger. In Signal Express, you can display simultaneous inputs by first creating an acquisition step. Next, select the Data View tab and select Add Display. You should then have two graphs for different input signals.

Also, here is a useful tutorial for getting started with SignalExpress.
