Hi dirtyb15,

Hummm... I'm not sure what to say... Win-2K is my preferred OS.

We also have many problems with many PCs when we switched to XP (mistake - 2 weeks ago). 😠
None of our quad serial port cards work. I will let you know if one day we get the quad serial ports working. We switched to a "USB to multi-serial-port" device. Works fine.

Let us know if you discovered some solution..

Everything was fine with Win-2K...

I got the same problem with my serial port. I'm able to communicate when I open a visa session with MAX. But when I run visa write/read in labview, doesn't work. I'm using windows XP. Please help.

Okay everyone i have finally got my applications using com ports to work with windows xp. Originally i would install the visa 301 runtime on NI's site and that would only work for win2k2 machines for me. I recently downloaded the most recent runtime, visa 320 i beleive and after installing that my applications work correctly. Hope this helps the others that were having problems with this.

Ahhh...that would make sense. I could be using a pre-Windows xp VISA driver. I'll look for the updated version and try it out!

I download the visa 320 runtime and install it. I can communicate trough the serial port with MAX but I still can't communicate with LabVIEW visa write/read. I will try with an older version of windows... Any suggestion?
