SEH Structured Error Handler Express VI doesn't configure

Solved!
Go to solution

I stumbled on the SEH and thought "this is exactly what I need!".  I installed it using VIPM package manager, opened the "Central Error Handler Template.vi", got all excited and placed the "Specific Error Handler.vi" on a block diagram.  But imagine my disappointment when it just sat there, NOT configuring like I'd expect an Express VI to do.  I double-clicked the icon, and after about a 15 second wait, a dialog box told me "Unable to view properties".  I don't use Express VI's too much, maybe there is some trick I'm missing.  Does this make sense to anybody?  I'm running LV 2015 Pro on a Windows 7 machine.  Thanks, paul

Did you install the GXML library. It said that it is required.

I am assuming that you found your information here:

Exactly, Tim.  It sounds totally wonderful!  But I am super reluctant to go monkeying around with the whole business without having a 110% understanding of it... I wish I knew exactly how the whole Express VI mechanism worked so I could fix it right.  If I don't get a fix, I guess I'm motivated enough to tread carefully into it myself.

Did you install the other files that I referenced in my first post?

Tim - yes, I *think* I did, but I don't have a lot of experience with the JKI VIPM system.  I ran the setup.exe included in "seh_1_0_1.zip".  Then I launched the "ni_seh-2.0.6.9.vip".  It ran and seemed to jump thru the necessary hoops.  *BUT* because of security, the target machine can't be connected to the web, so I have to use DVD's to move stuff back & forth.  Does that answer your question? paul

I don't think you installed the NI GXML. The version I am seeing is 1.4.2.8 using the JKI VI Package manager. Both of the files that you referenced where for the SEH. The document stated that you need to install the GXML tool kit as well. Perhaps that is the issue.
