Is there any chance to install the LV runtime of an Windows XP embedded?

Yes, I've installed LV runtime on Windows XP Embedded without any problems.
I've only done this after XPe was built and have not included it within the
build as a component. I believe that components have been put together to
include LV rutime in the build for an older version of LabVIEW but I haven't
seen anything for LabVIEW 7 or greater.

I believe I used the template for a set top box or something similar. You
need to make sure you have access to the Start menu and run command so you
can run a LabVIEW EXE installer. You may also need networking depending on
what you are doing with your LabVIEW application.

Installing post FBA is significatnly different than installing as an embedded component. With the correct components included, any application which installs on Xp should install on XPe (with a few specific exceptions, non known to be related to GPIB/LabView).

We have spent significant time attempting to create a minimal working XPe GPIB component without luck as yet.

The published NT Embedded information is non-applicable to XPe.

I have read that XPe is not supported because of the uncertainty of components included in the build. This is curious since the same issue exists with NT Embedded, yet NT Embedded is (or was) supported.

Hello,

I have successfully been able to include Labview Runtime as an XPE component, with some help and judicious advice from Grek. All this was for LV 6.1.

I had initially tried to install the runtime engine after First Boot of XPE. Unfortunately, Labview Runtime Engine(6.1) checks the OS and XPE returns itself as EMBEDDED which the Runtime Engine does not recognize and aborts installation.

This was one of the reason I hesitated to upgrade to newer version because after converting the RTE to XPE component, the Upgrade to 7.1 would leave me with a tedious task of creating a newer component.

Anyway I have the component for LV 6.1. It is also available at
http://www.xpefiles.com/a_folder.cfm?custid=Components&groupName=Other

NiVisa is also available.

NI should be easily able to create the component for the latest runtime engine for XPE with dependency structure that requires minimal support. Score One against NI for just wringing their hands.

There are ways to go about in creating component.

If any one is interested I will be glad to help.

Good Luck!

I'm interested in including the labview runtime engine 7.1 as an XPE component, can you offer some advice as to where to start or how you accomplished this with 6.1

I downloaded the runtime component.  I noticed your subdirectory is missing for "Part 2 of 3".  Is it needed?
Any tips on building the components?  I'm trying to use LV8.0. on XPe SP2.

Thanks,
John
