Running a motor using cRIO 9030, module 9871

Hi Everyone,

I'm pretty new to Labview, especially the FPGA module. I've been working on a project to control a motor using cRIO 9030 in the 9871 module for a couple months and have not been able to get the motor to move. I more or less followed the example NI-987x Serial Loopback and have tried many different things to get it to work with no results. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I attached my project below.

Hi Kate,

your ZIP file is missing some items from the included lvproject…

Mind to include ALL files in the ZIP file?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW,

Apologies, they should all be in the attached zipfile.

Best,

Kate

Hi Kate,

is there a reason to use the 9871 module instead of the built-in RS232 port of the cRIO chassis?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW,

The main reason for not using that port is that eventually there will be two motors controlled by the 9871 module, so the code will work for both of them with small changes.

Hi Katelyn,

does the example project for the NI9871 works as expected?

Best regards,

Hi GerdW,

I believe so, I am able to run that program but I don't think i have the equipment to verify that a signal is transmitted.

Katelyn

Use a standard RS232 cable and connect the NI9871 to your host computer. Use a tool like H(yper)Term (or even MAX) to read the serial communication…
