Run-Time Print to HTML alternative?

I'm trying to wrap up an application in which one of the functions requires
programmatically printing the VI to an HTML file. I'm _now_ aware that I
can't do this using the methods I've tried thus far, because they try to
save the VI which, of course, is a no-no in run-time.

As I'm really not keen on having to justify buying yet another add-on
module, does anybody have any suggestions on how I can make this work
without having to shell out for the Report Gen VI toolkit? Or am I going to
have to just suck it up and write another PO?

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy Hranko

Hi,

Exactly what part of the VI do you need to print? For VI's, controls and
indicators, you can get the image (invoke node "Get Image"). You can convert
this to jpg, png or bmp, and save it. with it, you can save a peace of HTML
(from a string constant) and only replace the picture name.

This will result in a HTML document with the picture you want. You can also
get an array of control references, and get the positions, descriptions,
tipstrips, etc. You could even write a map from this information, and the
HTML page will display the control discription when you hover above it.

Regards,

Wiebe.

Hello Jeremy,

If you are looking to simply take a screen shot of the front panel, you can invoke the Get Panel Image method of the front panel and save it to a file. The attached example shows how to do that. Let me know if you are looking to do something else, and Ill be happy to look further into it.

Have a nice day!
