Requirement Change for LabVIEW Realtime

I started investigating using a RTOS for a research project several months ago. When I was doing so the Knowledge Base about the Requirement for using a PC as a realtime target listed the supported ethernet options as such:

Supported Ethernet options
Integrated Intel® 8254x Gigabit chipset (as in the Dell® Optiplex GX270)
NI-PCI-8232 GPIB/Gigabit Ethernet
Intel® PCI-Network adapter, base on Intel’s 8254x, 82559, 82558, 82550 chipsets.
*An example of a commercially available board that carries the 82550 chipset
is the Intel Pro/100 S. An example of a commercially available network
adapter that uses the 8254X chipset is the Intel PRO1000 MT Desktop Adapter

It seems the Knowledge base has been refined to this:

Supported Ethernet Options
                    NI-PCI-8232 GPIB/Gigabit Ethernet
                    Integrated Intel® Network adapter, using an Intel® 82540, 82559, 82558, or 82550 chipset
                    PCI Network adapter, using an Intel® 82540, 82559, 82558, or 82550 chipset.
*An example of a commercially available board that carries the 82550 chipset is the Intel Pro/100 S.

Why has the Knowledge Base changed to support only the 82540 chipset, and since I now have several computers with integrated adapters with the 8254x chipset (specifically 82547 EI), is there any way I can still use these computers?

Thanks.
