Remote LCD Screen

I have a central PC controlling several remote testrigs. I would like to have a display local to each test rig that displays a summary of the test (just a few important parameters). I would like to send the information from the host PC via Ethernet.

Has anybody come across such a display?

Hi,

there're several possible solutions. I would recommend a rugged Touch-Panel-PC with a small LabVIEW application on it. There a several possible suppliers fot that.

Thanks for the reply, cost (as always) is a big consideration and a rugged touch panel would probably be a bit of an overkill. The screen is purely for indication (no control/input required locally at the test rig).

Mmh,

I understand. I also see that this proposed solution is not the most cost effective. But currently I only see the possibility to use a Panel-PC with a LabVIEW application or a separate panel. Some time ago we used a remote panel from Sütron. This could be configured via a serial protocol, in the mean-time there could be an Ethernet-based panel available. If no Ethernet is available there's still the possiblity to use a Ethernet-Serial-Gateway.

Sorry, I don't know nothing further. Hope this helps a bit.

Depending on the situation (how industrially rugged does this need to be?) you might be able to get away with a cheapo android tablet and the data dashboard app?

Thanks for the suggestion Phil. I have never used the data dashboard, can it handle multiple devices (The PC will be controlling 12 rigs and I will need 12 displays). It does not have to be rugged/industrial.

I don't have a work related application for it at the moment so have not had a chance to have a propper play with it yet.

My suggestion was only based on all the NI propaganda that I have seen on the subject recently.

From what I have read, I wouldnt imagine 12 rigs worth of indicators to be a problem. There seems to be plenty on the subject when asking Google.

Hi,

Yes - the Data dashboard does allow you to add multiple systems from the same dashboard and you can easily select between them.

Have a look at the video below, a demonstration of the App.

Kind Regards,
