Read data from OSI PI Server with LabVIEW

Message contains a hyperlink
A customer of mine would like me to add some functionality to a datalogging package I developed. They would like to supplement the measurements made by the FieldPoint and SCXI devices with data pulled from a PI server at the plant. The PI server is a product of OSI Software. They offer an ODBC driver to access the data tables on the server. I would like to know if anyone has read data from PI using LabVIEW either through the ODBC driver or any other method. Would such a person be willing to open-source those routines? If not that, perhaps some helpful hints?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Read data from OSI PI Server with LabVIEW

Hi there,

Is there any solution for this question? I am looking for a way to connect PI with LabVIEW (Citadel) as well. I've been informed that I need a PI ODBC in order for me to send data from CItadel to OSI PI server. PLease advice...

Anyone??

I managed to poll data from Citadel to Osisoft PI Server using Active X programming. But this is only successful when server (PI) and client (LV) in same machine. I am not able to send data to PI if the server and client are located in different machine. refer attachment for my VI. Can anyone help me with this? What is the correct way to name the "Machine name" as in attachment.

Hi Dan!

I did not find any PI ODBC driver in OsiSoft site.

Which software did you use?

Do you have a link?

Thanks in advance for the help.

There is a similar thread on the OSIsoft Users Community, with suggestions as to how to use the Database Connectivity Toolkit to make the connection.

Good luck.
