RS422 with myDAQ

Hi all,

I’m not quite sure if it is possible, but that is why I’m asking.

I’m in possession of a NI myDAQ and I want to read some serial communication. The protocol is RS422 so I have a TxD and RxD line and ground.
I want to use the Analog inputs of the myDAQ to readout the signals and use Labview to translate, but I have no idea how to do this.

Is there someone who already did this, or knows how to do this?

Best regards,

Dukel

In short - no. Pick up a USB to RS422 converter (or use a 422 to RS232 converter and use that with a (USB to) serial port)) - it would be much easier.

You could use the scope function of the myDAQ to analyse the signals - but I don't think you would be able to transmit anything. Hook up the scope probe to the RxD line and ground.

For the translation - it would be much easier to do with a 422 port - but you could in theory measure the high/low parts of the scope trace against your signal timing (e.g. the baud rate).
