RS232. Faster dataflow, getting measurements faster?

I am new to labview. My problem is that it takes to long to get the values back via the cable. I get values only every third minute to my graphs and numeric indicators. For instance if I want measurement result every twenty second, how do I do then? The blockdiagram is rather large and the data flow takes to long. The responding part is a ATMEL-processor(8bit). Perhaps there must be more loops in the programme or can I do like the blockdiagram shows?

The programme shall communicate with a student-build satellite through a common RS232 serial.
Here is what I want the program to do:

* Receive different measurements from a nanosatellite like voltage, current and temperature when I run the programme.
* Be able to receive measurements every 20 second

Check the VISA serial time-out.Default value is 10sec, but you can probe 1,2,3sec or less..etc.

I just had a short look at you vi.

Is it not possible to make several operations, which can work in parallel? If you do each function after another, then it has to take a long time.

I'd suggest you to read your data in a sequence, but afterwards, make the signalprocessing in parallel.
