Project Tasks in Real-Time Linux OS

I'm converting my project from Pharlap into Linux as a test case. It seems that while it will allow tasks created in the project to run and be used, it won't allow you to create any additional tasks in the project. Do all the tasks have to be created either in NI Max or within the VI's now? This will increase our conversion time by quite a bit if we have to change how we handle all tasks.

Are you referring to the NI-DAQmx tasks? How do you create them programmatically? Can you show that part of the code?

I'm not talking about creating them programmatically. I mean tasks you make manually in the project and then reference from your code. Do people not do this anymore?
