Programming PLC with LABVIEW

Hi all,

i'm new to the PLC world and i'd like to know if it is possible to program a Simatic s7 1200 with LabView.

I've read something about using OPC server/client but it seems like it's only to visualize from PLC but not for programming purpose...

Hi MR, The OPC Server is only for visualization of variables and Data Blocks in you PLC, if you are making an PLC-LV application where they have to "talk". I don't know if there is a way to program the S7-1200 but my guess it's no, I doubt there is any other tool besides Simatic NET to program their PLCs.

I can answer this one and, no, you can not program the s7-1200 with LabVIEW.

You can, talk to it and get data from it. If you have an s7 that is programmed to perform the required functions, then you can use LabVIEW to build a snazzy GUI to present the data to the user.
