Problems with projects (.lvproj) on Win 7

Hi,

I was using Labview version 8.0 on Win XP. We have about 2 years of development under this platform and now I update my PC and the new one comes with Win 7.

I installed labview under Win 7 and the ".vi" files are working well. I can run it, change and debug without problems, but when I try to open my project ".lvproj" the software hung without any message.

Labview hung even when a try to open an empty project in the first screen.

My project has about 80 different “vi”, without it I can't work.

Somebody can help me, please

Sbencke

LabVIEW 8.0 is now several years old and is not supported wit Windows 7. It's not even supported with Vista. Have you tried doing a repair or reinstall? Other than that, I'm not sure what you should do. LabVIEW 8.0 was the first version with projects and it was, in my opinion, kind of buggy anyway. An upgrade to a current version or a downgrade of the OS might be needed.

I have 5 licenses for Labview in my company. How can I know which version of Labview can I update without cost? Which LabView should I use to avoid problems with WIN 7 and minimize update problems with my project?

Well, I install Virtual XP and now my project is running ok, but during the installation a can't install the NI Devices Drivers because I receive the following error message: "Fatal Error. A Failure has occurred in Moistening".

The project/VIs is running, but I can not connect my GPIB interface, because my virtual WIndows XP didn't find the driver.

My CD is ok, it works on Win 7.0, It seems to be  a problem in the virtual interface.

Hey sbencke,

Sorry I did not realise you were using hardware in your system. When using a virtual OS it will not pass the USB I/O's as the virtual machine does not always communicate well with the hardware you are using. You may be able to find software that will pass the USB functions but I cannot guarantee if this will solve the problem 100%, What I recommend is an upgrade to LabVIEW 2010. This will ensure it is compatible with your OS, an should iron out any communication problems with your Hardware. Also with an upgrade, NI is able to offer technical support over the phones so we are able to help you with any difficulty you may encounter. If you are unsure about the upgrade a trail version can be installed, to ensure that an upgrade will solve your problems. The trial download is in a link i have posted below.
