Problems with Create File with Incrementing suffix.VI

I needed the "Create File with Incrementing Suffix VI"  in labVIEW 2014 so I replicated it as seen in labview 2025. That was an interesting excercise, all of the subVIs are available or could be created easily enough. Problem is there are errors and I cannot find my mistake(s).

There is a message "Error 81 occurred at Format into String (arg1) in Create file with incrementing suffix.vi> file name".

My VI worked partly at one point but I have lost my prechanges version. When the VI did work it seems to change the order of the parts of the new file name from the expected "Streaming file(1)" to ".txt(1)Streaming file" and then wouldnt increment any further than (2).

Can anyone help find my mistake please I have been trying to program this project two months now much of it sat in a freezing cold shed trying to trouble shoot.

Hi Ed,

your VI is missing several subVIs.

Please consider ZIPping the whole project with all related subVIs…

I didn't try to figure out what's wrong with your code; I just took the 2018 version and saved to as LV2014.

It seems to work OK (but I don't have LV 2014 to try it on).

Great idea, when I tried to save from 2025Q1 and couldnt I didnt think earlier versions might save back further! Thats probably misleading but seems like what is happening.
