Problem installing 8.0 - my IE 6.0 Install not recognised

Hi,

This is definitely an interesting problem.  I presume you have administrative privilages on that machine, and in that case, perhaps you should try to reinstall IE.  I realize you cannot install over it because it thinks you have a later version, but can you uninstall and then reinstall?  Something else we can try is to install LabVIEW on a different machine, or at least start the installation and verify it gets farther than this error allows.  I suppose there is a chance that something is wrong with the install data, although it does seem to point to IE.  If this round of testing doesn't return anything useful, I'll discuss it again with R&D to see if there is anything else from a, installer-theoretic standpoint that may help.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with this!  I have a feeling if and when we discover the underlying problem, it's going to be a small detail or contingency we are all currently unaware of.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with this!  I have a feeling if and when we discover the underlying problem, it's going to be a small detail or contingency we are all currently unaware of.

This morning, I attempted to install the software that came with my new Canon PowerShot A520.  It also failed.  They had a few scripts that attempted to fix the problem, all of which also failed.  I am thinking that there is something wrong with my registry.  Given how hard I hear it is to fix the registry, probably the easiest way to solve the problem is to completely re-install windows, something I don't really want to do right now.  Perhaps the Linux version will work...

More on this later.

Hello,

Darn!  That makes this one more tricky I guess.  Reinstalling windows is not fun, but if it gets you using both LabVIEW and the PowerShot, I think it's be worth it!  Anyway, I look forward to your update when you get a chance; I think we'll get past this, however arduous it may be 🙂

Hello,

I received word that you were still having trouble here!  I am not sure if you tried to reinstall windows, but perhaps you can try updating the windows installer - the following link should get you to the microsoft download page for updating windows installer:

Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2)

Hopefully this will help both the LabVIEW install, and the Canon install!

Just  a bump on this issue - were you able to get LabVIEW installed?  If you figured out the root of the problem and have a minute, definitely post it here so the masses can take advantage of this stream if/when they encounter this problem!

I hope all is well!

Best Regards,

JLS

I am having a similiar problem as discussed in this thread.  The last posted message asked if this corrected the problem.  Did you find a fix for this?

Hello,

I haven't heard back and could not replicate the problem, but perhaps he will get the notification of a new post to the thread and get back with the solution!
