Printing VI

Whenever I print a VI it prints on a single page with the various cases and sequences too small to see clearly. How can I print a bigger VI at least font size 10?

you could try using a screen capture - press "alt" and "print screen" on your keyboard to capture just the active window, or "print screen" for the whole desktop. The VI is now ready to paste into a document e.g. open Word and "paste"

Hello labview1958,

I'm assuming that you have your VI print option set to scale your block diagram and front panel to the size of your page (8 1/2 x 11).
You can disable scaling by going to File >> VI Properties >> Print Options and deselect scaling on the front panel and block diagram.

You can also use the Print:Block/Front Panel Scaling? property to disable scaling programatically.

In addition, you can use the Easy Print VI Panel or Documentation VI to print your VI documentation/front panel/block diagram in landscape, without scaling, without margins etc.

This should help your VI print out in a readable format.

Hope that helps.

Hello Wendy,

I have tried unscaling. The block diagram is too large for a single page and prints over a few pages in a complicated manner. However I have not tried landscape.

I want to remove the background grey colour from my front panel before I print. This is to save some ink. I want to print the FRONT PANEL without the default background grey colour. How do I go abou it? Some examples also have large amount of colour in the BLOCK DIAGRAM. How do I remove those colours without spoiling the LV? I just want to save some ink!

1958,
If you want to save ink when you are printing the front panel programatically: you can use property nodes to change the background temporarily to white and then back to whatever it was (as shown in the attached jpg). If it's not programatically printing: just use the coloring tool to color it white, print, then color it back (e.g. use ctrl-z to Undo).
For the block diagram: Just use the coloring tool. You won't spoil any code by changing the BD's background color/color inside structures etc. to white.

I changed the color of the background to white and it still came out grey when I printed the front panel.  In LabVIEW 6.1, the background of the front panel prints white, but in LabVIEW 8.0, the background of the front panel prints grey even when the default is set to white.
What am I doing wrong?

You may not be doing anything wrong ... as described in this post, it may be a problem in LV8.0.
