Power Supply Simultaneous Control

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

I have 9 Ametek XG 12-140 power supplies that I am controlling using GPIB. The GPIB cables are connected from the lap top to the 9 power supplies in series. I can currently power them on one after the other which takes about 30 seconds. Is there any way using GPIB to power them on simultaneously or within 5 seconds or so? As far as I can tell, I can only communicate with one instrument at a time, so I'm not sure if this is even possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Knowlton

I am not understanding your question.

Powering them up? Maybe something like this http://www.quantel.com.sg/sites/default/files/60-200D.pdf

With the low level GPIB functions and identical instruments, you can use an address list and program them in parallel. This is one of the few instances where you don't have to sequentially set them.

Thanks Dennis,

I was using Ametek's VIs to control the power supplies initially. Using the LabVIEW GPIB functions turned out to be a lot easier and I was able to get done what I needed.
