Thanks everyone, I guess you can tell I'm new to LabVIEW! The suggested alternatives are tidier, more efficient and highlight the drawbacks of being self-taught! To cut a long story short I'm taking Fortran code written many years ago and transcoding it to LabVIEW instead.
I wasn't bothered about how I implemented the polynomial relationship, simply because I was using it as a temporary signal source based on some boundary layer theory, but nevertheless the alternative suggestions are much better.
Thanks very much and I'll report back on my next set of problems no doubt dogged by sloppy coding and a general lack of awareness on what functions are out there! I really appreciate the community here and LabVIEW itself. ![]()
