Persistance of COM Port

I executed Serial Port application. Before this application stops execution, I am calling VISA Close to close the opened serial port. But persistance of COM Port is still available till I exit LabVIEW. Why is it so?

In Continuation to previous message,

After closing Serial Port Application, I am able to execute other serial port access vi's in Labview. But I am not able to open the same COM Port in other applications like VB, C, Hyperterminal till I exit LabVIEW.

can you send me VI for review  (LV version 7.1 maximum) ?

I had this problem in the past too. Needed to close "VISA resource name" ;

try to add closing by "Init_serial_com.vi".
