PCI under Windows 3.11 and LabVeiw 3.11

What you'd have to do is a cost-analysis of supporting and maintaining the current system, as opposed to upgrading the complete system to modern equipment. That upgrade would have to save not only repair time, but improve the test efficiency and increase product thruput. If you can say that by upgrading the system, the company would make or save X number of $$, then someone higher up will listen. Of course, if they don't upgrade, what is the cost of not performing that particular test?

Can that one test be run separately from the rest of the old system's test? Or use the PCI card in a newer system running in parallel with the old? Even the old system can handle ethernet or serial communication between two PC's. Would that work?

B-)

My sensibilities tend to want to upgrade h/w and s/w but I am dealing with folks who tend to have a hard time of letting go of old stuff and breaking away budget for new.  They also wait until the 11th hour and then claim there is no time or money to "do it right".

That seems strangely familiar.

Given it would be so much work to replace all the currently working interfaces, perhaps you could implement the functions of the new PCI card in a separate, new PC.  I'm not sure how well the two systems would pass data between themselves.  But as a compromise it might get the new card you need without having to replace everything all at once.

I'm not sure if there are any "remote" options for the 3.11 box.  Some way of maybe "sharing" it's IO with another networked machine.  I think of a few scenarios that might work.  But it's been a very long time since I played with Win 3.11  (Although I still know where all my floppies are)

Good luck.
