Output the time between two light gates from usb-6008

I'm trying to output the time between two light gates, using a data aquisition  USB-6008. i have set up some og the functions in labview but having trouble select the how to output it and set it up. I have selected timing and transition and an output of w1-fgen express but i cannot wire them together without getting errors.

What exactly are you configuring and how? The NI FGEN Express is used to program NI's function generators and not the USB-6008. Are you trying to do an analog or digital output with the 6008? Neither can be hardware timed with this device. What kind of timing do you need?

As Dennis mentioned, you are unable to cayy out hardware timing in order to achieve this with a 6008. Is there any particular reason for using this device and can you use a PCI DAQ card or an M Series USB device? It's important to remember that the 6008 is a very low cost device so doesn't implement some of the timing circuitry found on most DAQ devices.

i'm trying to input, through the 6008, an digital signal of when the light gates are cut, then record the time between each of the light gates being cut. Am want to output the values on the computer in some sort of spreadsheet with each time.

Basically the experiment involves a peg/pin travelling a set distance between the two light gates and recording the time between the two. i've set up ladview so it recognises when the two gates have been cut but can't get it to measure the time between and then output it.
