Order of Transformations example doesn't work

LV 8.6.1, Win Vista

I just upgraded to LabVIEW 8.6.1 and found the example "Order of Transformations".

I ran it.

It does exactly nothing.

The picture indicator stays a nice shade of white.

The STOP button works, no errors can be found, but it just sits there.

Judging from the diagram, it's supposed to draw something, but I don't know what.

I just ran it here and it looks like there's two cubes spinning around each other.

If I left click on the display window and drag the mouse, it is possible to render the cubes pretty much invisible.

Well, when I hit ALT-PRINTSCREEN to take the screenshot, it turns solid black.

I reload the VI, and run it, it's solid white.  I hit  ALT-PRINTSCREEN again, and it turns black again.

Weird.

Try turning off the Aero "style"/"theme"/whatever it's called in Vista.

OK, that changed things a bit.  Now I've got cubes (sort of), but only on the bottom half of the window.

Why would the desktop theme affect this?

Hi CoastalMaineBird,

Hmm, I'm not sure but perhaps there's some processing power issue? What graphics card are you using? Do you have the latest drivers? And what version of Vista do you have?

It's entirely possible your intel graphics do not have enough graphical power to handle both the Aero graphics and additional 3D computation. I tried the example in LabVIEW 8.6 with a Vista 32 machine here at NI and it worked fine. That machine has a NVIDIA Quadro, though.

As for the driver, I'm not sure if that's the most up to date for your card. You can go to Intel's website and they'll help you get the latest.
