Optimization and Formula String Limitation

Hi,
Does anyone if it is possible in someway to use the optimization/fitting
VI's not using a "string" to put the formula if not
a "node formule" or better another VI that acts as a funtion (X´s as input
terminals and Y as Output terminal)
