My suggestion would be to look at the other menu items under Data
Logging. You might want to try rebinding to another log file and try
doing it interactively using Log...
As for reasons the setting may not be available, it looks like the menu
item is grayed out when the VI is realtime related, or when the runtime
menu item has been disabled from the diagram. There also used to be a
button on the toolbar, and when that was hidden in the VI Properties, it
grayed the m
enu item. Of course that button hasn't been visible in a
very long time,so I don't think that is an issue.
