Open Db Tools Examples doesn't work with new WindowsXP (SP3) installation

If I installed a new OS WindowsXP with SP3, I want to test the examples "Create Table Example.vi" but it doesn't work any more. I get the attached message.

It's hard to say what the problem might be from just the error message. It looks like you are trying to establish the connection using a file DSN, correct? Is the DSN where it is supposed to be and does it work when tested?

What kind of database are you trying to access? It looks like you have to reinstall the ODBC driver or, as Mike says, check your DSN.

Thanks for the fast answer.

I have an other PC with Windows XP but only SP2 installed, there I have no problem. The "Open DB Tools" does work without any problem at this PC.

How can I reinstall the ODBC driver?

I'm using a DSN-File :

[ODBC]
DRIVER=Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)
UID=admin
UserCommitSync=Yes
Threads=3
SafeTransactions=0
PageTimeout=5
MaxScanRows=25
MaxBufferSize=2048
FIL=text
Extensions=txt,csv,tab,asc
DriverId=27
DefaultDir=D:\TS\Davip
DBQ=D:\TS\Davip

Did you try to recreate the DSN after installing SP3?

Microsoft provides a tool to diagnose problems with MDAC here.

I don't know if this helps though.

What is the name of the file you are trying to access and where is it located?

Also, if you are just opening a text file why are you using the database drivers?

I'm trying to access the file D:\TS\davip\Davip_db.csv (see input of DSN-File).

But even if I try to use the LabView Examples from "National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\database\DatabaseEx.llb" I got this error message.

I also opened the "National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\database\TPT_Demo.udl" and used the tool "Test Connection". There I got the attached error message.

I know there are other ways to open a csv-file but I'm interested why this is not working (even the LabView examples).

Unless you made a mistake in cutting and pasting the DSN information, the file name is not in it. The DBQ key should have the complete path, but all that is in it is:

DBQ=D:\TS\Davip

I've included the complete path but it's still not working. I don't think that the dsn-File or the csv-File is the problem because if I use the original LabView examples (see last post), it's also not working. Can there be a registry problem of the ODBC-driver?How can I registry this driver?
