Old version Ni daq and labview.

I was given this

http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/1041

I simply want to understand the document in this link "http://sine.ni.com/psp/app/doc/p/id/psp-42/lang/en" It gives abbreviations for the pins and I don't understand anything. I just want to pass up a simple digital input and output. The examples online are referring to the newest model ni-daqmx. It sound simple and it should be.

What is your actual question? There are several documents on that web page. Your mention of the old version of NI-DAQ is also strange. The current driver is DAQmx and is what you should use. Digital I/O is simple. Have you looked at the examples that come with LabVIEW? Start there and please post back with a more specific question and details on what you need to do.

I'm referring to the first document.

http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/53C5FF75028D46DB862570A80066628A

where they specify which pin does what, but I don't undersatnd it. I want a manual that detailly explain what the pins do so I cna start soldier things up and lid up my led.

Why don't you read the User Manual that is also linked on that page.

The correct word is 'solder'. Soldier is quite different. In any case, what sort of terminal board do you have connected to the DAQ card? Most have screw terminals so you don't solder anything.

  • National Instruments does not recommend this device.
  • Consider the NI PCIe-6341 X Series device for new systems.

Right off your link.  Not much to understand here.  You have been given obsolete equipment.  UPGRADE the hardware to keep your hair from turning grey and falling out.

Okay then please tell me this. When this device is connected to a computer, can I use labview's DAQ assitance to give a digital i/o?

NI is a reputational company, I don't think they ever created a product being that incapable.

I had a look at the readme for DAQmx and it seems that for the 6070e, only the pxi version is supported, not your pci. Sorry.

Your only option for that card would seem to be to use the traditional DAQ driver and for that you must use a supported OS (i.e. XP) and you cannot use the DAQ Assistant.
