NXG Web Module and Database

Hi,

I am new to LV NXG and NXG web module. Is there any reference on how to access database (preferably NI citadel) from NXG web module?

Thanks,

Irfan

Hi irfanabid,

Here are a couple of references I could find regarding accessing databases with the NXG web module.

Data Communications: Moving your Data Across your Application:

http://www.ni.com/white-paper/54115/en/

Logging Data with National Instruments Citadel:

http://www.ni.com/white-paper/6579/en/

Are these references helpful with what you are trying to do?

Thanks Jacob for your reply.

Here is a short description of my project:

I have a data monitoring system of production line which logged data to citadel.

In tablet/smartphone using web, I want to both:

  1. retrieve the citadel database. The web service looks workable, as described in your first link. However, we don't provide SystemLink to our customer for this project. I'm thinking of using web service (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371618K-01/lvdscconcepts/dsc_citadel_webservice/).
  2. input data to the citadel database. The tablet/smartphone would be used by operator/technician to record breakdown (start and stop) to calculate machine performance (OEE). I don't see this in the citadel web service. Based on the link I gave above, it only shows data retrieval. Is this true?

I am thinking of making the data monitoring PC as a middleware to input the database, by using TCP/IP (is it doable in NXG web module?) or using Web Socket.

What do you think? Any better suggestions?

Regards,

Irfan
