NIDAQ installation problem

We are trying to install some new PCI-6024E boards from National
Instruments to use with LabView, in a Pentium machine, running Windows
98.

Prior to using them, we followed the procedure for installing NI-DAQ 6.6
from CD. The first part of the installation seemed to proceed ok, and
the drivers appear to have been installed. After the boards were put in
the PCI slots, the second part of the installation continued.

Then, in the Measurement & Automation Explorer application, when we
tried opening the Devices and Interfaces folder to verify the board
recognition, the Windows 98 system crashed, with an error message to the
effect "Explorer caused a stack fault in KERNEL32.dll ....."

Does anyone have suggestions or tips? National I
nstruments has not been
very responsive so far.
