NI VISA not seeing LPT1, although LPT1 working with Logic Analzyer Software

I have run the VISA assistant and it does not see the LPT1, but I know this port to be fully working. It also not listed in the IO Config list. How do I get VISA to see the LPT1 so that I may access it from LabVIEW.

Hi Mark
In order to have VISA working you need to instal MAX - Measurement & Automation Explorer I guess. Then you need to run it at least once. Then the system will determine its configuration.
There is some decription in LTR vol 9, num.4

Hope it helps

I already have MAX installed. When I right-click on the parallel-serial port option and try to assign LPT1 to ASRL10 it reports that it is already assigned. However, it is still not in my IO Config Avaliable Types list.

Mark:

"VISA assistant" and "IO Config" are the names of Agilent VISA utilities. I do not believe that Agilent VISA supports LPT1. You need to use NI-VISA for that.
