Hello,

Any idea how to fix this problem that casuses this error?

'NI-PAL Service Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'

I have been re-loading LabVIEW 8.0.1 Pro Dev Sytem, NI-DAQ (Traditional) and NI-DAQmx, all day.  This probelm seems to be related to the fact that I can, no longer, create executables or open my .lvproj files, yielding the other error:

'' Problem sending commands to the program"

Thank you

Hello FLT CTRL 6

Does the NI-PAL System Manager error happen at start-up?  Click on the link in the error that will give you more information.  What is the ModName and ModVer?  The ModName and ModVer will give us specifics on the dll that is giving the System Manager problems.  Make sure that the DLL is in the System32 directory.  Depending on the DLL, you may need to try reinstalling one of the drivers.

Thank you, for the reply.  I was desparate, so I began unloading and reloading various combination of NI-MAX, NI-DAQ traditional, and NI-DAQmx.  Currently, the problem is gone and I do not want to replicate the error.  I am convinced that these messages and crash conditions were caused by teh 'Updater CD' that I received and installed within the last few weeks.  Previously, i downloaded and installed the on-line version of the LV 8.0.1 upgrade, and all was fine.  Later, I received the 'Updater CD'and installed it thinking that this would, somehow, be an imporvement.  It was not.

Currently, I have the minimum combinations of NI-DAQmx and NI-MAX that are required to run some of my old sub-vis that include only 'legacy' serial READ and WRITE .vis.  I do nto belive that I had to eliminate NI-DAQ traditional in order to correct this error.  I am concerned about what may be missing, but all seems well, for now.  I have to re-link some of these sub-vis .vis when I open some of my codes, but I do not think that I have much choice.

Thank you.

NI-PAL service Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close.… tell Microsoft...10Jan08

Yesterday I started having this error message pop up when I first boot up my computer.  I haven’t even started LabVIEW.

Recent changes:

  1. 6Jan08 Replaced motherboard and CPU.
  2. 6Jan08 Formatted hard drive and reinstalled software(Windows XP Home Edition).  Computer working fine.
  3. 8Jan08 Installed LabVIEW 8.0 Student Edition.  LV is working fine and the message does not appear.
  4. 9Jan08 Download and install NiDAQ 8.6.1.  Reboot the system and the above error shows up.  LabVIEW works fine so far.

Anybody have any ideas on what the problem is?  I have a screen shot of the actual message, but I can't load it on this page.

Hi Oliver,
Thanks for contacting NI.  It would be very helpful if you could click on the link for more information and post what you find.  Steven suggested this earlier.  The additional information should allow us to determine which file is responsible so we can reinstall the corrupted file and resolve the problem.

Hello Eric,
Thanks for responding.  The problem cleared up.
I had installed NiDAQmx 8.6.1 in my system, but when I went to Add or Remove Programs and clicked on National Instrument -- Change/Remove, none of NiDAQmx was loaded, but the NiDAQ icon was on my desktop.  I didn't bother trying to delete anything, I just clicked on Autoplay of the NiDAQ download and went from there.  The problem went away.

So there was an error in the NiDAQ installation.

I have attached a file of the screen shots just in case you want to see them.

Eric and Oliver,

I got the same error message in two different computers running LabVIEW 7.1. The error appears after the PC is rebooted. But it had different error signature.

Hi,

Thank you for the screen shots! What program are you running when this happens? Which version of Max do you have? And how often do you get this error?

Karunya,

This happens just at the reboot of the PC. I remember that one PC started error after I tried to update Report Generation toolkit from version 1.0.1 to 1.1.2. I did not continue because it asked me to uninstall the old version first. Then there started this problem. The MAX version was 4.1. This PC had this problem everytime it started. And there was also an error with MAX. I could not use the MAX and LV anymore, so I decided to re-install LV, but I cannot un-install it because the Control Panel - Add/remove software did not show National Instrument software anymore. I ended up by manually deleting all the NI files from my PC, but then I cannot install LV anymore, because whenever I tried to re-install the LV, only the driver were installed, no LV main program!

This error in another PC only happened a couple of times.

Thanks.

Hi Jin,

What is the exact message that you get when you try to install the software? Do you get an error when you try to install LabVIEW? Can you please provide an error number and the message? Did you get into the registry when you deleted all references to NI software? Did you use MSI blast?
