NI Example Finder problem

Hello,

So basically I run into the same problem as described below:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/NI-System-Web-Server-Not-Running-repairs-not-fixing/td-p/2626799

- NI Service Locator is not running

- Windows could not start the NI System Web Server service on local computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

but it is not LV2013 but LV2019SP1 instead.

Is that still an issue?

Regards

Oh, yes, it is even more of an issue with LabVIEW 2019 because the installation is being handled by NI Package Manager, which is having "growing pains".  It took me several months of hard work (and assistance from NI Technical Support) to get LabVIEW 2019 to install on systems that had earlier versions of LabVIEW.

In my experience (starting with a similar issue involving LabVIEW 2011), when LabVIEW installation results in NI Services "going missing", the only solution that ever worked for me (even in consultation with NI Tech Support) was to completely remove all NI software and completely (and extremely carefully) reinstall it.  This can (and probably should) take hours or days (or, in my case, months).

Descriptions of how to safely remove all NI Software once NIPM has been used to install Software can be found on the Web (I posted how to do this somewhere on this Forum, and you can find other postings from NI, as well).  When you are ready to reinstall, here are some recommendations:

  • If possible, stick with a single version of LabVIEW (e.g. 2019).  If you don't need the latest version, the "safest" to install, in my opinion, is LabVIEW 2016.
  • If you are doing an Installation using NIPM (e.g. LabVIEW 2019), in the first pass, install only LabVIEW.  Do not install Drivers, other Modules or Toolkits, and very few, if any, "Additions".  Reboot!
  • Next, install any Modules or Toolkits that you must have.  Again, no Drivers.  If there are Add-Ons that seem appropriate to what you are installing, include them.  Reboot.  Don't worry that NIPM ignores your wishes and installs "extra stuff" -- this is annoying, possibly fatal, but sometimes seems to be OK.
  • Last, install any additional Drivers that you need.  Reboot.

With luck, this should work.  If not, go back to the "Remove all NI Software" and try again, installing less.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder whether it has something to do with SP1 or 64bit version. I had LV2019 32bit installed on the same machine (Win10 64bit) and it run smoothly. Due to some issues I had to use 64bit LV instead and apparently SP1 was released just around the same time.

What is your HW setup?

Windows 10 Pro (x64) on two Dell Laptops and a Dell Desktop.  All LabVIEW installations are 32-bit, and include LabVIEW, VIPM, LabVIEW Real-Time Module, LabVIEW Vision Development Module, and the following Device Drivers:  NI DAQmx, NI VISA, NI PXI Platform Services, and NI Vision Acquisition Software.  I have LabVIEW 2016, 2018 SP1, and 2019 (I have tested LabVIEW 2019 SP1 as a "stand-alone" installation on a VM, but have not tried to upgrade my currently-working systems, as it took me > 4 months to get LabVIEW 2019 to work with the older versions).
