NI 9871 Connection from Another RT cRIO

Hi,

getting error -1073807192 (VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF00A8) Access to the resource or remote machine is denied. This is due to lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or machine.) when accessing serial port/resource on second cRIO chassis with NI-9871.

Accessing the port from desktop PC works fine.

I have checked and all the settings in NI-MAX, installed latest NI-VISA Server on both chassis.

Can see the ports in NI-MAX.

Both chassis in scan-mode.

Have checked NI-VISA Server permissions, even added individual IP addresses, even tried new users.

What do you have on your cRIO-9066? What's the setup like? Can you send instructions from a test panel on VISA? In the constant to select the resource what else do you see?

Thank you for the reply, below are snapshots with details.
In short, the four com ports from NI-9147 show in MAX but not in the VISA test panel or the LabVIEW diagram (had to type in the address and resource name manually).

Problem solved, access/permission granted!

Here is how to fix the -1073807192 error when accessing second cRIO from cRIO over one Ethernet:

I have reconfigured everything to the second local network (second Ethernet card in my PC) 169.254.0.x.

Manually edited /etc/hosts on both cRIOs (see below).

Rebooted both cRIOs.

Now have access!

The hosts files:

169.254.0.3:
127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain           localhost
169.254.0.3     NI-cRIO-9066-01cc788a.local     NI-cRIO-9066-01cc788a

169.254.0.2:
127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain           localhost
169.254.0.3     NI-cRIO-9147-01cb9b6c.local     NI-cRIO-9147-01cb9b6c
