I have found lots of stuff about RT devices not being seen by max, but I don't see anything about the entire remote system section not showing up. I did a repair on max, checked that the drivers were there, have RT installed (as shown in picture) etc etc. Anyone know why this might be missing?

May the MAX version needs an ungrade?

I agree. The Remote Systems portion is part of MAX that shouldn't really depend on any drivers or modules. What version of MAX do you have? Try downloading one of the latest drivers (whatever driver you use, they all come with MAX) and install it. This will upgrade MAX and hopefully fix that bizarre problem.

I updated and I have MAX version 4.7.2f0. Is this most recent? If so, the problem is still there so the update didn't fix it.

So, I uninstalled everything NI related and deleted all registry entries. Then I reinstalled LabVIEW 2009, LabVIEW 2009 RT and, LabWindows/CVI 2009. This put MAX back on my machine (version 4.6) and remote systems showed up. I then went and installed 2010 and 2010's device drivers, which put max 4.7 on my machine, but now remote systems is gone again...Suggestions? I think I'm going to open up a support request.

Wow, that's really strange. Definitely should not be doing that. It's possible that your database is corrupting for some reason. I'd try following this KB (it's a fairly painless operation) on the off chance that it helps, and if not give support a call...

I felt your pain last week.... However I did not reinstall the device drives for 2010 and my system is still working... Specifically MAX could not see any of my USB daq devices... cDAQ or otherwise. The suggestion rendered by the NI apps engineer (sorry, do not remember your name) did not help... Only complete uninstall of everything and reinstall of 2009 +plus 2010 without device drivers (I was scared) fixed my system. lost two days to this issue at a time critical period. Posts here went unanswered. Lost sleep etc. I am starting to believe that running virtual OS's is the way to go... cause this is unacceptable.. and I even had beta tested 2010 with device drivers without issue... it was after installing the released version with device drivers that I had a problem!

Hm maybe I'll try your approach after R&D looks into it more. Uninstalling & Reinstalling to try different configurations is a pain because, as you said, it's incredibly time consuming.
