There is currently no parser or translating utility for the exported string files that I am aware of. There is however a Dev Zone Tutorial that might help explain the process.

There is also some more info about it in the G-Reference Manual. The most important things to remember are not to alter the tags and not to change the control labels. Otherwise, LabVIEW will give you an error when you try to import the file back.
