Labview legal question

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi ,

I worked in the past for a Company that had a full Labview License .My job is is in  Hardware Testing and i order to make my life easier i wrote some small automation scripts. I used application builder to make executable files so I can run  on computers without Labview

Now I moved t a new small company which cannot afford a labview License. Is it legall to use my old executtable files at this new Company ? Or  shall I move to a free solution like robot framework or C#?

Thank you.

That would actually be a question for your old company.  It is their IP.

As far as LabVIEW is concerned, the Run-Time license is free.  So there is nothing illegal there.

It might technally not be legal for you to use said executables if they were built using a company's assets.  If they could prove they were built using their application builder license, they could (rightly) demand that you turn over their property or face legal consequences.  That legal mumbo-jumbo about IP that you signed when you joined the company is not to be taken lightly.
