Labview USB

I’ve been using Labview ver 5 for serial applications using the built in serial VI. with a laptop that has a serial port. I am looking to purchase a new laptop, but the new laptops have a USB port.
How can I use my existing serial VI applications with the new laptop that has a USB port?
Can anything be done to Labview 5 so that I may use the existing applications with the USB port?
Please elaborate on this.
Thank You

Yes, you need a USB to serial adapter to do the trick.
Search for "USB RS232 adapter" with google and choose the one you like most (just make sure that the driver will allow you to see the device as a normal serial port). Find this one as example, but look for a better one because I didn't search too much.

Good Luck

I find the KeySpan USB-serial converter to be an excellent choice.
