LabView won't start

For some reason, I can't get LabView to start on my PC.  I tried reinstalling it, but that didn't help.  I think it has something to do with that bug in LabView whereby it interferes with MATLAB and Simulink.  How long has that been a problem?  Anyway, I see LabView pop up on the task bar for just a second, but then it disappears again without ever even displaying the splash screen.  Do I have to completely uninstall, then reinstall it?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Which version of LV are you trying to install?  I have never seen a problem with Matlab & LV.

Re-installing it may be a solution... lenghty process, mind you, but may solve the issue.

What is your OS and LabVIEW version?

Did you do any customization to the palettes? Maybe there is a corruption somewhere? (reinstallation might possibly not cure that unless you clean out these folders before reinstalling).
Is there any weird stuff in your LabVIEW.ini file?

No, there's no customization.  I have version 7.1 and I know there is a documented bug because LabView does NOT handle the FlexLM licensing properly.  I had deleted an unused (I thought) other program that had the license and it is possible LabView was accessing that.  The Mathworks and NI are both aware of the bug in LabView.

Ahhh....FlexLM!

Check this document for a solution. Good luck!

Thanks, I will look into it.  FYI, the link provided in that document to the FlexLM homepage is invalid.
