LabView load error code 8

I just installed LabView 5.1 in my laptop running Windows XP. I wanted to open some vi files developed by someone else, but I encounter this error when trying to open the files:

Resource not found.
An error occurred loading VI 'Eplate_DataCollection.vi'.
LabView load error code 8: Could not load VI resource.

Any idea what this is? Any help would be most appreciated.

Just guessing here: Do you know the LabVIEW version of the VIs?

Can you open the examples that ship with LabVIEW 5.1?

(LabVIEW 5.1 is ancient history (~1998) and cannot open VIs created with newer version of LabVIEW, e.g. 6, 6.1, 7, or 7.1. Time to upgrade!) 🙂
