LabVIEW upgrade to use with Microsoft Windows Vista Business x32

hello.  I do the I.T. for the company but I am not familiar with the LabVIEW code.  I know our company has support for it and currently people are on 7.x and 8.x and the plan is to move to 8.x.x for Microsoft Windows Vista Business x32 compatibility as we will be moving into that directly.  I know that this is going to be a GENERAL question and BROAD, however my lack of using the product has put me at a disadvantage.

This is a quote from a person who does NOT want to use VISTA, IMHO.

"My direction for the support is to move to the latest 8.x.x version of LabVIEW and a common platform of code to minimize future migration efforts. Neither (OUR COMPANY or (ANOTHER COMPANY WE PARTNER WITH) has tested any LabVIEW code on Vista. ({ANOTHER CO WE PARTNER WITH} is a development partner with NI).

I wonder if updating will be a pain or what can be a problem updating, or how to test it to get it to work!?

Thank you.

Matt

Hi Matt,
8.2.1 is the first version of LabVIEW that supports Vista.  If you are eventually moving to the latest version (8.5), here's the known issues with upgrading to 8.5, and there's a section on Vista.

This information comes with the upgrade notes of your LabVIEW package.

Thank you Yi Y.

I have a question about updating though, sorta of an adedum to my question.  Thank you though for your posting!  I will be sure to check it out and forward it on to the appropriate people who use N.I..  If I have the software installed and try to install 3 times, I get the message that I have to buy a new version (I have not seen this error, and I have not used the product so I am not the best to talk about this probably) but is there a way to UNregister the product, to remove it / uninstall it, and then install it on another system?
That being said, there is a little background, the person who the N.I. for our company left and now we are not sure how to go ahead and some people have installed the software and we are in a little bit of a pickle.  We want to obviously be in compliance and work with N.I. but we also want to be allowed to install it on a few systems as needed and then uninstall it and remove the activation / registration information so that we can move from say a SLOW system to a FAST system.

*THE SHORT*
Is there any way to uninstall /remove activation key or make it so I can legally REMOVE it from system X and install it on system Y legally without looking like I have it on 2 systems when I only have it on ONE?

Thank you.

Hi Nuvera,
Which installation is complaining about having too many copies activate? When it comes to normal LabVIEW activation, unless you uninstall and deactivate the old license, you should be able to safely install it on a new computer.
Are you using a volume license? Are you trying to activate multiple copies on the same computer under different accounts?
Please specify.

Thanks!
